Teddy Bears Go Blogging
The article "Teddy
Bears Go Blogging" by Brenda Sherry made me grateful for this teacher. She
did not only help her students in blogging online, but she discovered this
technology that has helped and will help many teachers and students. I liked
this blog for many reasons. It is purposeful, so many younger students learn to
write and communicate successfully. In addition, the teacher looked for a
flexible way of learning. Students can practice learning in and out of the
classroom. It is also safe. Therefore, students can learn in a safe environment
supervised by the teacher. It is an interactive tool, so students can connect,
comment on other students' posts, and receive feedback. The comments of the
teacher, peers, parents, and relatives motivate students to learn and do their
best, so it is a motivation tool.
It is great to have such a blog. I
plan to use it in my classroom. For example, students in a reading lesson will
be able to relate their personal experiences with the new lesson. They will
have the freedom to choose between writing or recording. It is a helpful
technology for the present generation and fits students' interests and love for
technology. It will also allow my students to practice their learning anywhere,
even outside the school walls, especially since it is free. It is a great tool
to connect with other students around the world and benefit from their ideas,
culture, experiences, thinking, and problem-solving skills. My students will be
excited to do homework and assignments in a fun and unconventional way. My
students will participate in performing group tasks at times that suit them. I
think this technology will help them manage their time, their tasks, and where
they learn. Blogging will also enable them to review and verify their writings
before editing and publishing. As a teacher, I believe this blog will be
appropriate for all my students, especially students with disabilities. The
recording feature will allow them to learn and communicate according to their
abilities. I believe that the learning outcomes for all students will achieve
great success. What I should take into consideration is to provide enough
opportunities for students who cannot practice learning outside of school for
many reasons. Some students do not have internet service, do not have
electronic devices, or live in poverty.
