Digital Storytelling
I dreamed throughout my life of becoming an author of children's
stories. On this task, I took my first steps. I wrote my first story in English
- and I will complete the second part of the same story in Arabic if Dr.
Elizabeth Langran allows me to do that - I cannot hide my affection, and I
cannot express it. It was an enriching experience. I created my story using the
application Adobe
Spark. It was easy to use, so I was able to rerecord, add pictures, and
change the layout of the pages many times. I chose the music background from
the Freeplay website.
I chose it to be classical and positive to fit my story.
My story reflects the real events that
happened to me and my daughter. I designed it to suit second graders and based
on the learning standard of expanding vocabulary using prefixes and suffixes. I
will use the Kindness story
in my classroom and explain the words and the importance of using them. I will
divide the students into pairs. I will distribute them a graphic organizer.
They will work collaboratively to categorize words containing prefixes and
suffixes in the graphic organizer and specify prefixes and suffixes. I wrote
the Kindness story thoughtfully, starting from the title to the question at the
end. In addition, kindness is the title of my story. It represents my standard
and provides an educational message for children. I chose to end my story with
a question to encourage children to be kind because they can make a better
world and a future if they grow up correctly. What is interesting in the
kindness story is the story will end, but the children will start telling their
stories. They will think about what they have done and what they will continue
to do.
