Universal Design for Learning - Digital Concept Maps

As a student, I created simple concept maps using pen and paper to simplify the lessons, understand them, remember important information, and be successful. Now,   this is the first time I am using and creating a digital concept map for a topic that is big and important to me as a teacher. Creating a digital concept map for a concept such as Universal Design for Learning has never been easy. It is a difficult task, not only in the way I created it but in the way it made me think of it as if I were in my class. However, the Digital Concept Map enabled me to understand the concept of Universal Design for Learning and the concepts that relate to it in an organized, clear, focused, summarized, and meaningful way. In addition, it increased my focus on these concepts, identifying them, and linking them to what I watched, learned, and applied in my field experiences. SOL for ED-554

Last semester was the first time I did my field experience in a public elementary school in the United States. In second-grade reading lessons, students learned to expand vocabulary. The teacher incorporated technology in her lessons perfectly. She used the smart board. She also asked the students to use the computer, listen to the reading, and do the tasks. The students learned effectively. As a teacher, it is significant to teach vocabulary to second graders, so according to the Virginia Department of Education SOL, students will expand their vocabulary using knowledge of prefixes and suffixes. It helps them understand what they are reading. They also need to know that the keyword may share a prefix or suffix and that this addition changes words' meaning. In addition, breaking down these words into parts allows them to spell unknown words. I want my students to learn English vocabulary interactively, so I believe that a great way to do that is to integrate technolo...

Teddy Bears Go Blogging

The article "Teddy Bears Go Blogging" by Brenda Sherry made me grateful for this teacher. She did not only help her students in blogging online, but she discovered this technology that has helped and will help many teachers and students. I liked this blog for many reasons. It is purposeful, so many younger students learn to write and communicate successfully. In addition, the teacher looked for a flexible way of learning. Students can practice learning in and out of the classroom. It is also safe. Therefore, students can learn in a safe environment supervised by the teacher. It is an interactive tool, so students can connect, comment on other students' posts, and receive feedback. The comments of the teacher, peers, parents, and relatives motivate students to learn and do their best, so it is a motivation tool. It is great to have such a blog. I plan to use it in my classroom. For example, students in a reading lesson will be able to relate their personal experiences...
