Mobile Learning

Technology exists to make the world easier and closer. Technology advances continuously, so we get its benefits continuously. As a teacher, mother, and student at the same time, I have a lot of responsibilities. I rely a lot on my mobile and iPad on the percentage of 98%. I use them anytime and anywhere. In addition, they save me time. From my experience as a student, I downloaded the Canvas Application on my computer, iPad, and iPhone. I did many of my assignments and watched the lectures while waiting for the appointments or my daughter's bus. One of the things that are happening to me currently is that eating breakfast in Ramadan* comes in the middle of the time of my lectures. With the flexibility of online lessons, using my iPad, I attend my lessons, have breakfast, and share my information. Therefore, it is great to have applications that can be downloaded on my iPad and mobile and enable me to do my work as a teacher.  By browsing the list of applications, I chose t...

SMART Notebook

Creating interactive activities by myself was a great experience. I chose  SMART Notebook  to design three interactive activities for the reading standard of second grade, which is expanding vocabulary by using prefixes and suffixes. I chose the magic tube as the first activity. Students will build the words through the formula and in a fun way. In the second activity, they will learn that prefixes and suffixes have meanings. I made this activity more interesting by using one of the encouragement tools, which is clapping. In the third activity, students will categorize the words in a way that is like the graphic organizer. I added timing to make it exciting. When designing the activities, I followed the instructions in the video accompanying this assignment. Therefore, I also put instructions for students to follow in all activities. I made sure to lock everything in the activities so that the students could perform them easily and without problems.      ...

Digital Storytelling

I dreamed throughout my life of becoming an author of children's stories. On this task, I took my first steps. I wrote my first story in English - and I will complete the second part of the same story in Arabic if Dr. Elizabeth Langran allows me to do that - I cannot hide my affection, and I cannot express it. It was an enriching experience. I created my story using the application  Adobe Spark . It was easy to use, so I was able to rerecord, add pictures, and change the layout of the pages many times. I chose the music background from the  Freeplay  website. I chose it to be classical and positive to fit my story.      My story reflects the real events that happened to me and my daughter. I designed it to suit second graders and based on the learning standard of expanding vocabulary using prefixes and suffixes. I will use the  Kindness  story in my classroom and explain the words and the importance of using them. I ...

Personalizing Learning with Survey and Choice Board

As a teacher, I know that students have individual differences. Not all students receive an education in the same way. To this end, I created a  survey  to identify my students' interests and their preferred way of learning. This questionnaire will help me provide the best teaching that suits the interests and needs of my students to help them progress and success.          The  choice board  is nine activities that I created in an attractive and interactive way to suit second graders. All of these activities focus on the criterion for learning to read, which is for students to expand their vocabulary by using prefixes and suffixes. I created this choice board in different difficulty levels and varied methods of learning. It is diverse to be visual, tactile, and kinesthetic. My students will find their interests in this board. Therefore, I am sure my students will learn, practice, and love what they have learned. ...

Edpuzzle Flipped Classroom

This post provides an introduction and a brief explanation of creating my first lesson using Edpuzzle Flipped Classroom . I created a video for a second-grade reading lesson based on the standard of expanding vocabulary using prefixes and suffixes. I provided my students with basic information on how to expand vocabulary using prefixes and suffixes and their importance in students' language development. It also provided some illustrative examples. In addition, I created two posters to explain the two concepts and supported them with drawings of my own. To make my lesson interactive, I added some words of encouragement. In addition, I challenged my students to discover the difference between the concepts of prefixes and suffixes. I designed the lesson in comfortable colors and fonts for my students. I also reduced the words written on each page so my students wouldn't get upset. At the end of the lesson, I created a quick review. I added instructions because my students are seco...

Personal Learning Network

Image
Personal learning networks are rich resources for learning. The diversity of PLN provides teachers with endless opportunities for educational resources, methods, and strategies. I have categorized personal learning networks into three categories based on my personal experience. The first category is for networks that I did not think would be a learning platform, such as Instagram. The other category is the one I have already taken advantage of in my lessons, like Pinterest. The third category is the one I am motivated and curious to use, which is the Twitter platform.             I have created an account on Twitter . I had followed the guidance steps in the edutopia article . I introduced myself in my profile.  I also used an image while preserving its rights.  I added three accounts, Dr. @elangran ,  @edutopia , and FCPS . In @edutopia, I found a great learning resource that suggested...

Pear Deck

Pear Deck is a great interactive website where I can create my presentation using google slides and assess my students face to face or online. My experience was rich and enjoyable. I am sure that it will help me as a teacher to give presentations in an organized and engaging way. In addition, it will enable me to evaluate all my students and provide immediate assistance to them. On the other side, my students will be able to join the presentations by using their devices. They will participate and interact with enthusiasm. They will answer questions independently. It will allow each student to enter the class code, join it, and participate on a separate page.             When I created my pear deck account , I found many templates in the library. Specialists designed these templates to be flexible and classified them into three categories for the beginning, middle, and end of...
